As children we crawled, pulled up, and walked but in all of this, we fell down and have to start over time and time again. Well, life is just like a child learning to walk. Life holds all kinds of twists, turns and falls, but we continue to strive to find that good life. My life is filled with scares from the twists, turns and falls of life. As I was reading Proverbs, I found myself thinking about all the times I felt rejected, unloved, alone, and lost…it was not that I was being rejected…I was being redirected.

That is what God does. When God says NO, when our prayers aren’t answered, it isn’t God rejecting us. God never forsakes us. His plan for us was designed before we were born, but he gave us free choice and sometimes we make really bad choices, but God doesn’t Reject us…he simply Redirects us.

We can lie, cheat, make plans all of which will lead us astray, why you ask? Well the answer is in Proverbs 19: 21” Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. “ and in Proverbs 19:5 ” A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will not go free. In Proverbs, we see time and time again God showing us his redirection.

As we read the Word of God, often we read something that really tugs at our heart. As I read ” Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother is a child who brings shame and disgrace. Stop listening to instruction, my son,  and you will stray from the words of knowledge.” Proverbs 19:26-27 (NIV) I have prayed, asking that God forgive my shortcomings especially when it came to my mother, and now I find myself, as a mother, praying for God to help my son. Praying God will help him find the path he designed for him. I realize that my mom was probably praying that same thing for me. The point I want you to see, is that through prayer, God redirects us if we allow it. I think because I cried out to God for help as a teenager, he took my hand and helped redirect my destiny, to the destiny he had chosen just for me.

I hope that as you read this, you will see that God never gives up on us. He tells us “ Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise.” ” Even small children are known by their actions, so is their conduct really pure and upright?” ” The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being “ As children, our parents try to guide us, teach us right from wrong, and then children grow up. As we grow, our parents pray that God will help us remember our teachings. However even the best parents, the best teachers can’t guarantee that a child who is growing into an adult will make good choices, will be honest, will be trustworthy. A parent can be rejected by their child, and that same child can reject GOD but it is in God’s time…they will be redirection.

God uses every mess for a message. God uses every reject for a redirection. In my case, I use to be a huge mess when I was younger, but God changed my path, opened my eyes, and help me see the error of my ways. God redirected my steps and changed my path. I have seen so many lives, redirected and changed by the Grace of God. I have seen some who were alcoholics, who now are years sober, hardworking and successful. I have seen some who were abusive but now are counselors for others. I have seen some who were addicts, who are clean, and successful and mentoring others. How did that happen….it was God’s redirection.

The final thing I want to share with you about God’s redirection is it is not easy. It is a hard walk but ” I can do all things through Christ who give me strength.” Philippians 4:13. I want to encourage you to take a look in the mirror, what do you see? Do you like what you see? Are you an honest, respectful, trustworthy, caring person or are you a hot mess filled with lies, dishonesty, and distrust? God wants an opportunity to help you be redirected, but he can’t do it unless you follow him.
