The hustle and bustle of the season is all around us. As our Christmas season is most definitely underway; some are struggling to find the joy in the season, some are missing Hope this Christmas, and even more don’t think the lights are shining quite as brightly, Christmas isn’t just a reflection of the lights on the tree, the wreath on the door, or the smell of goodies baking in the oven. Christmas is a reflection of Christ, the greatest gift ever given from the Father. Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

In the lowliest of places, laying in a feed troth in a stable, was the son of God, who would be the Savior and Redeemer of us all. I know we all know the Christmas Story. When I reflect on Christmas, I don’t reflect on the glisten lights on the tree, I reflect on how those lights remind me of the light of Christ that shines for us all. The world is a dark and scary place at times. We face trials and challenges some of which will shake us to the core, be life changing. Some of us have been told that we had a terminal disease like Cancer, some of us have been told that a loved one is dying or has died, or you might have shown up to work one day to find the business is closed and you have no job, and no income; there are so many life storms that can try to steal our joy, but it does not really steal the joy, it just silences it for a moment. Yes, just a moment because when we face this trauma most of us will fall on our knees and pray. Right that moment, we are reminded that God is always with us. God is in the midst of every circumstance, every moment, even every breathe we take.

As you reflect on Christmas, we know that Jesus is the reason for the season, so don’t look at Christmas but look at Christ. His beauty and blessing abound all around us. If you are feeling discouraged and just can’t seem to find the excitement and joy of Christmas, refocus…look for Christ. As the radio plays a Christmas song, think about the heavenly choir that are singing. If you are cooking goodies to share, thing about the love that you are putting in those goodies and remember the love that Christ is giving you, the blessing you are going to be to someone who receives these goodies. When you are missing family or loved one, reflect on the sweet memories that they have given you. Think about how Christ gave you this family, how he showed you his love through each member of that family. Truly, think about how Christ is the reflection of Christmas not just at Christmas but every moment of your life.

Christ came in flesh and dwelt among us. Now that is something glorious to reflection on. God loved us so much that he took on flesh as the Son of God and walked this earth, to save us.

Take a moment to think about these two scriptures.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

When I read these scriptures, I think about the depth of love that God has for us. So, this Christmas, make you reflection of Christmas about Christ. Let all who see you this Christmas, see the joy and love of Christ. Consider this. we can make everyday Christmas all year long, by simply reflecting on Christ. He is in the midst of every life, every day, even those who might now know HIM.
